The Arctic Cowboys First to Paddle The Entire Northwest Passage

The Arctic Cowboys, consisting of West Hansen, Jeff Wueste, Mark Agnew, and Eileen Visser, have made history by becoming the first modern individuals to complete the Northwest Passage in one season using human power alone. They accomplished this remarkable feat on October 8, 2023, after an 83-day journey. The expedition was challenging, featuring encounters with polar bears, hazardous ice floes, and 25-foot waves. Despite the dangers, the team experienced unique moments and witnessed incredible natural phenomena, such as polar bears, muskoxen, right whales, and narwhals. The adventurers emphasized the importance of preparation and the journey itself, regardless of the outcome, as a rewarding and life-changing experience.
